Galleria Macca è lieta di festeggiare il suo nono anno di attività ed è orgogliosa di presentare MATERIALE, doppia personale di Veronica Paretta (Cagliari, 1986; vive e lavora a Cagliari) e Sasha Roshen (Kharkiv, 1996; vive e lavora a Kyiv, Ukraina). Il vernissage si terrà venerdì 7 giugno, dalle ore 19 alle ore 21. La mostra sarà visitabile fino al 26 luglio, ogni martedì, giovedì e venerdì dalle 19 alle 21, o su appuntamento. Veronica Paretta | Sasha Roshen

In questi ultimi anni, Veronica Paretta ha sviluppato un corpus di lavoro che ruota attorno al concetto di spazio, personale e intimo, spingendo il figurativo in un astratto molto estremo, come se fosse per lei un modo per fuggire dal quotidiano. Allo stesso modo, sebbene alla luce degli eventi che hanno stravolto il suo paese, Sasha Roshen si è anche lui anche allontanato dalla pittura figurativa per un astratto più formale, per sfuggire e andare alla ricerca di un posto sicuro.

La presentazione è costituita da un insieme di nuove opere che vanno dall'inizio del 2022 fino ai nostri giorni, e comprende lavori pittorici e disegni, piccoli e grandi. Affrontando la nozione di fuga, si vuole promuovere la ricerca degli artisti sui potenziali tecnici e sociopolitici della pittura astratta, le loro opere sono malinconiche, forse a causa della fragilità delle scene raffigurate, dove tutto sembra calmo ma allo stesso modo estremamente preoccupante.

BIO

Veronica Paretta (Cagliari, 1986; vive e lavora a Cagliari), nel 2011 si diploma in Pittura all'Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna, e nel 2022 ha conseguito il suo MFA in Pittura all'Accademia di Belle Arti di Sassari. Nel 2011 partecipa alla 54a edizione della Biennale di Venezia, Padiglione Italia nella Sala Nervi di Torino. Nel 2013 e nel 2016 ottiene due residenze d'artista presso il laboratorio d'incisione di Casa Falconieri a Cagliari. Nel Febbraio 2017 la sua prima personale alla Galleria Macca di Cagliari. Tra il 2016 e il 2022 espone in diverse collettive in Sardegna, al Salone del Libro di Torino, e ArtMadrid. Ha esposto al Museo Nivola, e al Museo MACC di Calasetta. Nel 2019 e 2022 la sua seconda e terza personale alla Galleria Macca. Finalista al Premio VideoInsight Foundation nel 2022, le sue opere si trovano in collezioni private e pubbliche, in Italia, negli Stati Uniti e in Messico.

Sasha Roshen, nato nel 1996 a Kharkiv, vive e lavora a Kyiv. Nel 2016 si è diplomato in Pittura presso il dipartimento di Belle Arti della Scuola delle Arti di Kharkiv. Nel 2020 ha conseguito la laurea presso il Dipartimento di Scenografia dell’Accademia Nazionale di Belle Arti e Architettura. Nel 2017 ha completato con successo il corso per artisti all’Accademia delle Arti Media di Kyiv. Tra il 2017 e il 2019 è stato membro del gruppo artistico “STO” (letteralmente “stazione di servizio”, in Ukraino). Nella sua pratica artistica si confronta principalmente con la pittura e la grafica come strumenti capaci di reagire con immediatezza alle situazioni politiche e sociali del momento presente.

Galleria Macca celebrates its ninth year of programming, and is proud to present MATERIALE, by Veronica Paretta (Cagliari, 1986; lives and works in Cagliari, Italy) and Sasha Roshen (Kharkiv, 1996; lives and works in Kyiv, Ukraine). The exhibition will be open from Friday, 7th June, until Friday, 26th July, 2024.

Veronica Paretta | Sasha Roshen

The two-person show by Italian artist Veronica Paretta (b. 1986) and Ukranian artist Sasha Roshen (b. 1996) was born as a unified intervention specifically designed for Galleria Macca. Over the last few years, Paretta has developed a body of work that revolves around the concept of space, personal and intimate, pushing the figurative to a much extreme abstract as a way to escape. Similarly, though in light of current events, Roshen also abandoned figurative painting for a more formal abstract as a way to escape in search of a safe place.

The presentation consists of an overview of new works ranging from the beginning of 2022 until present days, comprising of small and large paintings and drawings. Addressing the notion of escaping and furthering the artists' investigations into the technical and sociopolitical potentials of abstract painting, their works are melancholics, perhaps due to the fragility of the scenes depicted where everything looks calm but at the same time worrisome.

BIO

Veronica Paretta (b. 1986 in Cagliari - Italy; lives and works in Cagliari), in 2011 she graduated in Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, and in 2022 she received her MFA in Painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Sassari. In 2011 she participated to the 54th edition of the Venice Biennale - Italian Pavilion, at the Sala Nervi in Turin. In 2013 and 2016 she attended two artist residencies at the Casa Falconieri's engraving workshop in Cagliari. In February 2017 her first solo show at Galleria Macca in Cagliari. Between 2016 and 2022 she had several group-shows in Sardinia, at Salone del Libro in Turin, and ArtMadrid. She has shown at Museo Nivola and at Museo MACC in Calasetta. In 2019 and 2022 her second and third solo show at Galleria Macca. In 2019 she co-founded the artist-run studio Mezzanino in Cagliari. Runner up for the VideoInsight Foundation Prize in 2022, and part of the 1^st Biennial of Contemporary Art “Maria Lai”, her work is held in private and public collections, in Italy, USA and Mexico.

Sasha Roshen, (b. 1996 in Kharkiv - Ukraine), lives and works in Kyiv. Graduated in Painting at the Fine Arts Department of the Kharkiv School of Arts in 2016 and in 2020 at the Department of Scenography of the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture. In 2017 he successfully completed the artist course at the Academy of Media Arts in Kyiv. Between 2017 and 2019 he was a member of the artistic group “STO” (meaning “service station”, in Ukrainian). In his artistic practice he is mainly interested in painting and graphics as tools capable of reacting immediately to the political and social situations of the present time. His work is held in private and public collections, in Italy, Europe and Ukraine.
