Galleria Macca is pleased to announce its participation to the 10th edition of MATERIAL ART FAIR VOL. 10 in Mexico City, 8-11 February 2024, for the fourth time in its Main Section. The booth (A02) will feature a presentation by Veronica Paretta (Cagliari, Italy, 1986; lives and works in Cagliari, Italy) in dialogue with Sasha Roshen (Kharkiv, Ukraine, 1996; lives and works in Kyiv, Ukraine).

Over the last few years, Paretta has developed a body of work that revolves around the concept of space, personal and intimate, pushing the figurative to a much extreme abstract as a way to escape. Similarly, though in light of current events, Roshen also abandoned figurative painting for a more formal abstract as a way to escape in search of a safe place. Our booth presentation for MAF 2024 consists of an overview of new works ranging from the beginning of 2022 until present days, comprising of small and large paintings and drawings. Addressing the notion of escaping and furthering the artists' investigations into the technical and sociopolitical potentials of abstract painting, their works are melancholics, perhaps due to the fragility of the scenes depicted where everything looks calm but at the same time worrisome.

"The presentation combines the strength and intensity of Veronica Paretta's painting with the delicacy and evanescence of Sasha Roshen's work. The works of both artists complement each other, creating a surprising dialogue that project us into the contemporary world and into human complexity..."
